I really enjoyed reading Kaptain Vamp with my son Michael. I agree with him that the topic was refreshing. It also ties into today’s trend of zombies and vampires, but in a good way. From a parent perspective, it teaches a great lesson: that being different doesn’t have to be a bad or scary; it can be awesome! It’s a cool book that we both enjoyed with great illustrations. I read the book ‘Kaptain Vamp’. I first noticed the similarities that I had by living in the same area as the author (example: Attowa = Ottawa, and Varsoges = Vars). What I loved the most about the book is that it’s not that some people have willpower and some don’t. It’s that some people are ready to change and others are not. Life does not provide warranties and guarantees, it only provides possibilities and opportunities for those who dare to make best use of it! – Carole Melancon

I just have to tell you what a great book Kaptain Vamp is! I LOVED IT!!! I know it will be a big hit with the kids. Liv really enjoyed it as well. A few times, she stopped reading and tried to guess what would happen next. I think that is what makes a good book, she couldn’t wait to read on. She was totally enthralled, as was I! I also like how you threw in some larger words and words that we don’t use in everyday conversations (at least us anyway!!). Liv asked a couple of times what that word means-I like that. My Mom and I read Kaptain Vamp, and I think it was really, really good. I liked the way at the end how Allistaire couldn’t change back into himself again, and then he woke up and met his Grandfather. My favourite character was Pistachio the puppy and Allistaire. I think it would be cool if there was a sequel. – Livi (age 8)

I loved the book ‘Kaptain Vamp’. It was really good and an original. So good in fact, that once while reading it on the bus I missed my bus stop!
